The Brunei Environment Roundtable 2007

  The Brunei Environment Roundtable 2007 brought together over 100 senior figures from government and business to discuss the key issues facing the environment and how business and government can work together on projects such as the 'Heart of Borneo' to contribute to a better sustainable future. The Guest of Honour at the lunch was Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Hj Abdullah, Minister of Development. Leading figures from Brunei and abroad participated as guest speakers including Professor David Bellamy, the world renown environmentalist and Professor Wangari Maathai, the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Winner. The Brunei Environment Roundtable 2007 was partnered by TOTAL, BLNG, ING Private Bank, ALCOA and BAG Networks with the support of The British High Commission, International School Brunei and The Empire Hotel and Country Club.

The Roundtable sought to clarify the following issues:

What are the facts on global climate change? What are the big issues?
What can business and government do to help protect the environment?
What is the environmental significance of the Green Heart of Borneo Project?
